Members of the Anthropology, Geospatial and Earth Sciences Department publish on best practices for archaeological workforce development as part of a workgroup of archaeologist from across the nation.

The article "Aligning Education with Industry: Strategic Pathways to CRM Workforce Readiness" appeared in the most recent edition of . With ten authors from eight different academic programs and input from 24 other archaeologists, the article provides a justification and roadmap for creating undergraduate and graduate programs that prepare students to work in the cultural resource management (CRM) industry. The CRM industry generates more than $1 billion in revenues annually and employs approximately 90% of the archaeologists working in the United States. 

The IUP Applied Archaeology, MA program and undergraduate Archaeology track are highlighted in the article as examples of successful programs preparing students for the CRM workforce. Faculty members Ben Ford and Andrea Palmiotto are contributing authors.
